Visit to Santon Downham

23rd April 2018
We had two trips out to Santon Downham to look for the Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers.
Both visits resulted in missing the Lesser Spotted, however walks along the river were interesting highlight birds were Nuthatch and Siskin but very difficult to get any good images.
On both days we then visited Lynford Arboretum.
Only one distant Hawfinch and no Crossbills, however seed had been put out in many places throughout the arboretum. The photos show some profile shoots of the species seen. The best being several Marsh Tits which were very active.
We also saw Nuthatch, many tits including good views of longtails unusually not darting about continuously, Dunnock, Chaffinch, Reed Bunting and a Tree Creeper.
